Pony Express is a launched Zamperla motorbike coaster in the Ghost Town area of Knott's Berry Farm. The ride is one of the park's newer coasters, and is themed off of the mail route in the 1800's that shares the same name.

Ride history[]

Construction on the attraction began in 2007. Around February-March 2008, construction on the attraction was complete, with one month to test the ride. Finally, the ride begun operations on May 22, 2008, following a grand opening ceremony for guests.

Ride synopsis[]

Pony Express is based off of the old mail system that shares the same name. The vehicles of the attraction are shaped like horses to give riders the feeling of being part of the mail system. After waiting to board their horse vehicles, guests board their train and the restraints press in on the center of the rider's back. Suddenly, riders are launched across the track at 33mph in just 3 seconds. The train then zooms up a hill that curves and descends to the rider's left or right, depending on which seat they are in. Riders go up a small hill, which descends and curves to the right of the train. The train goes up another hill that swerves to the left and descends to the right. Next, the train curves left upwards into a dark tunnel where they go up another airtime hill before reaching the final brake system of the attraction.

Trivia[]

  • The attraction cost $9 million to build.
