Krake is a Dive Coaster located at Heide Park. The attraction opened in 2011, and is the first of its kind in Germany.
Ride history[]
Ungetüm 2011[]
In 2009, people began speculating that Heide Park would be receiving a new coaster in the near future after the park revealed their "Ungetüm 2011" project.
Announcement[]
In September 2010, pieces of Krake's track began arriving at Heide Park, leading to more speculations that the ride was a Dive Coaster. On October 31, 2010, Heide Park announced Krake, the first Dive Coaster in Germany.
Construction and announcement[]
The first piece of track to be constructed was the splashdown area, followed by the Immelmann loop and the station area. In late January 2011, the final piece of track was installed (the top of the lift hill), and testing began. Krake officially opened on April 16, 2011, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.
Ride synopsis[]
The ride begins with the train immediately ascending up the 135-foot lift hill. The train then turns left and enters a holding brake, which stalls the train for a brief amount of sections right at the top of the drop. The train then descends down the drop, into the "monster's mouth" tunnel and into the splashdown, followed by the Immelmann loop. Next, the train goes over an airtime hill and into the final brake run.
