Ride history[]

Green Lantern: First Flight was announced by Six Flags in October 2010, six days after videos were leaked announcing new thrills to come to Six Flags that upcoming year. On February 4, 2011, the Los Angeles Times reported the track for Green Lantern: First Flight had just arrived on site at Six Flags. In early May, the park closed the area that Green Lantern would occupy, Gotham City Backlot, and retheme it to DC Universe.

Debut[]

On June 2, 2011, Six Flags Magic Mountain reported on their Facebook page saying, "Green Lantern: First Flight will make its long-anticipated debut on Friday, July 1, just in time for the July 4 holiday weekend." On the exact same day, the Los Angeles Times reported, "This is the second time the park have pushed back the opening day (a Memorial Day opening and a June 18 opening) to a July 1 opening. The reason towards the July 1 is not caused by mechanical issues but rather last-minute design changes to the coaster's loading station."

Ride synopsis[]

Green Lantern is an Intamin ZacSpin rollercoaster, where riders loop and twirl along 825ft of track. Guests can twirl upside down in an uncontrolled manner, and sometimes there are cases where they don't even twirl at all.

Trivia[]
